Poosie Nansie Schools Competition.
This long established competition is held annually and together with the Burns Supper in January is a highly significant date in our calendar . Pupils from Primaries 4, 5, 6 and 7 perform Burns works in either poetry or song with individual and school awards being given. The Flochart Hendry Shield is awarded annually to the school whose pupils accrue most points.
Schools’ Competition 2013.
Will be held in the St Francis/Niddriemill Campus on Thursday 7th March 6pm - 9pm.
Tickets. This is a popular event which invariably sells out. Members and their friends/partners who wish to attend should book their tickets through Bob Mitchell the schools competition convenor . Prices are competitive and a meal of soup, haggis, neeps and tatties and cheese and biscuits are included. It is invariably an uplifting and memorable experience for all who attend.
Mr George Nicolson.
George was Treasurer and Past President of the Club and an enthusiastic supporter of the Schools’ competition. For many years he was the adjudicator with overall responsibility for the judging, an unenviable task which he performed meticulously. Following his untimely death in November 2010 it was agreed to purchase a bust of Robert Burns and to present it annually to the top performer on the night.
We are pleased to announce that this year the pupils of St Francis and Niddriemil Primary Schools will be performing in front of our Panel of Judges and prizes will be awarded to participants from both schools.
Pupils from Newcraighall Primary School will entertain during the judges' retiral.
